ROLLA — A Turn-Based Football Puzzle

Remember the games on your first phone?

Back in the early 2000s, before smartphones, there was a little game called Wappo — hidden deep in the menu of a Siemens M55. No graphics to speak of, no sound worth mentioning. Just a grid, a ball, and a footballer chasing you. I played it for hours on the school bus, trying to outsmart that relentless little defender.

Twenty years later, I rebuilt it from memory. This is ROLLA.

How it works

You are the ball. 😊

You move one square per turn. The defender moves two — always chasing, always closing in. Your only advantages are the walls that block his path, and the magic freeze circles scattered across the board.

Lure him into a wall. Step on a circle to freeze him. Slip past while he’s stuck. Reach the goal.

Simple to learn. Surprisingly hard to master.

Made with love for a dead phone

The original Wappo lived only on Siemens feature phones — devices you can’t even find anymore. There is no official version, no port, no modern remake. Just forum posts from people who remember it.

This is my version. The levels are original, the design is new, the soul is the same.

If you had a Siemens, Nokia, or any other brick phone with a game you still think about — you’ll feel it.

Free to play. No ads. No accounts required.
